Recognized as the hardest medium to learn and master, Sherie have come to love the spontaneity of painting in watercolors. “Retaining the freshness of the paper and paint while quickly delving on each brushstroke is a challenge I have come to embrace. It requires thoughtful planning and wistful creative instinct. Giving in completely to 'touch and go', resisting the urge of going back and winning over the fear of losing the transparency watercolor has been revered for.”

With only pen and paper on hand, Sherie illustrates her subjects on the spot without pencil drawing or prior sketching.  "Pen and ink is beyond drawing.  To bring a subject into life in muted monochrome is almost like scribbling in water. How can one capture the contrast from the light and shadow or its depth with only one color, is a question I once asked myself.  I took my exploration further by using only one pen and completing each piece in less than three hours to give it a painterly approach.  It's a true test of an artist's proficiency in the elements of perspective and composition."
